A Rare Glimpse!
Originally constructed in the 1920s,
the Neptune Pool was designed and enlarged twice by William
Randolph Hearst and the architect Julia Morgan into the pool
that is seen on tour today. The Neptune Pool is composed of
beautiful marble and serpentine tiles, antique elements and
fine art.

The Neptune Pool has been drained in order to perform ongoing
maintenance projects on the plumbing and the tilework, as
well as to do conservation work on the marble statuary. This
is a part of our charge as California State Parks to preserve
and conserve the historic estate.
This is a rare opportunity to see the incredible architectural
and engineering designs that make up this spectacular Neptune
Pool. It is also a chance to see our historic maintenance
and curatorial staff and partners performing highly specialized
work to preserve Hearst Castle® for future generations.
