HEARST CASTLE
PRESERVATION FOUNDATION

The HCPF is a non profit public benefit corporation organized under IRC 501 (c)(3) §509 (a)(2) formed to promote the educational, conservation and interpretive activities of the Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument.   Additionally, the HCPF supports academic and scientific studies relating to Hearst Monument and the restoration of the art and facilities for the enjoyment of the public.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In 1992, the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation was created with a mission to preserve and restore Hearst Castle and to education the public about its architectural, historical and artistic significance Hearst CastleŽ, a National Historic Monument, has captivated millions of visitors from all over the world since it was opened to the public in 1958.

Unfortunately, no endowment or foundation support accompanied the gift of the Castle to the State of California in 1957. There are no capital resources available outside of State funding to preserve, restore, enhance and promote the Castle's priceless art, architecture and interpretive educational programs. Escalating Castle restoration costs have created a vital need for outside funding resources.

The stewardship of California’s priceless cultural and historical resources is the responsibility of all of its citizens. The Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation serves as a vehicle for the public and private sectors as well as individual citizens to participate in the preservation of this timeless treasure.

Hearst Castle not only represents the culmination of one man’s dream; it also represents the infinite possibilities attendant to the human spirit.
